Canberra

The national capital is a surprising place to visit. The parliament houses, both old and new, the galleries and the museums are fantastic.

The name is popularly claimed to derive from the word Kambera or Canberry, which is claimed to mean “meeting place” in Ngunnawal, one of the languages spoken in the district. There are several other, less overweening suggestions to it’s meaning however.
